Learn about Congo Cloth Connection

CONGO CLOTH CONNECTION: "Every stitch a prayer" will have a display and a meeting on Sunday, November 7, 2010. This is part of the Silverwood Mennonite Church (Goshen, IN) Mission Sunday celebration.

At 9:30 am a variety of projects from the local community will have displays in the fellowship hall. Come to Congo Cloth Connection and see yards and yards of richly colored cloth. Yardage will also be available for purchase.

There are many ways to connect with the global church. One is beauty. Congo Cloth Connection shares the beauty and creativity of Congo cloth, the stunning fabric used for clothing and crafting in Congo. We will have a booth at the Pittsburgh 2011 assembly with yards and yards of fabric to sell, sample creations, information about Congo and prayer cards to send to Congolese sisters and brothers.

The desire is to fashion a link of beauty and prayer between Mennonite Church USA and the Mennonite churches of Congo. Funds raised will support a sewing project in Congo. We are working closely with Tim and Suzanne Lind, country reps for Mennonite Central Committee Congo, and members of Florence Church of the Brethren Mennonite.

Quilters, crafters, prayers, lovers of Congo, may also join us for a potluck lunch and meeting at 12:30 p.m. the same day at Silverwood. There we will learn more about the project and help plan the Pittsburgh activities.

For more information, or if you would like this project to come visit your congregation or group, contact Christine Nofsinger at 269-806-0337 or cnofsinger@gmail.com.

This project is sponsored by Michiana Friends of Congo, a joint effort of Florence Church of the Brethren Mennonite, Kern Road and Silverwood Mennonite Churches.
